We are looking for a visionary leader with an end-to-end strategic outlook, motivated to drive innovation with a focus on continual improvement and efficiency.
 
The R&D Director will be part of the Flat Glass Business Unit in an internationally expanding and market-leading context. She/he will assume the lead of the technical engineering area, being responsible for the product development  from the innovation process,  including the definition of the supply entity. He/she she will collaborate with the sales department and will manage the whole engineering process by leading the R&D department end-to-end.
 
In particular, this role will play a pivotal part in guiding the technical organization toward an innovative approach centered around the adoption of new technologies (AI, Data Intelligence, etc.) to be integrated within the international paradigm.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Managing the entire R&D process from innovation, interfacing with Sales, Project Management, and Production
  • Direct engagement with the market and customers to gather input for continuous improvement and technical product innovation
  • Benchmarking and market intelligence to enhance and construct products for the catalog
  • Overseeing the international R&D and Engineering department (+80 resources)
  • Implementing product standardization processes (modularity) in mechanical/pneumatic, electrical, and software development (modular)
  • Innovative design in AI, Data Intelligence, productive maintenance, HMI implementation
  • Implementing and harmonizing synergies between the Italy/China technical teams
  • Change Management: particularly the candidate will support the evolution of the business approach from product-centric to value chain extension focused on sustainability (providing the customer not only with a product but a value system)

Requirements

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering (plus) or other engineering disciplines
  • Experience gained in a managerial role within a complex manufacturing structure in the field of manufacturing automation with business encompassing both project-based and rolling forecast approaches
  • Experience in managing complex and international teams
  • Experience in managing complex contexts with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in managing innovation-oriented processes in automation (Artificial Intelligence, Data Intelligence, HMI, Predictive Maintenance)
  • Experience in analyzing and reorganizing product ranges with an innovative and cost-efficient perspective
  • Ability to implement standardization/modularity processes in both hardware and software
  • Past experience in structuring a complex product development process (Risk Management, Control Plan, Design Review, etc.)
  • Knowledge in homologation processes
  • Excellent command of the English language
