Technical description

  • The machine comprises of quite a large electro-welded steel base. The fixed shoulder and the group of round steel guides for the movement of the mobile shoulder rest on this base.
  • The automatic lubricating system equipped on the double edger greases all moving parts during the positioning cycle.
  • The spindles used are equipped with three different types of water seals. They are also distinguished in three different types of adjustments:
    • vertical movement for the centring of the groove with respect to the glass thickness. This movement takes place with the sliding of the spindle inside a shell (with its oilier for seal lubrication). Adjustment is done via a screw and mechanical position indicator.
  • Advance movement for the recovery of tool wear (only for diamond spindles, as the polishing ones have a driving slide and pneumatic cylinder for automatic recovery) with a screw and graduated handwheel. Inclination movement to use deeper grooves than the glass thickness.
  • On the fixed side of the double edger there is an adjustable support guide for the introduction of the glass. This guide can be adjusted according to the desired amount of material to be removed.
  • The transport system of the glass during the machining stage is carried out through high resistance belts.
  • The advancement of the glass, controlled by an inverter, is adjusted via a potentiometer on the control panel in the electric cabin of the fixed side.
  • The machine is managed in its main operations by a PLC connected to a membrane keyboard and a screen.
  • The electric cabinets are placed on board the machine, thus permitting a saving of space within the glass factory. The amperometers for the reading of the current absorbed by the operating wheels are placed on electrical panels in correspondence with the spindles.
  • The machine can be equipped with a special corner dubbing system, comprising of two peripheral wheels (one for each side) that machine the four corners of the glass.
  • In the event of wanting to make up a system of two double edgers in sequence, a 90° transfer can be provided, to remove the glass from the first machine and take it into the second one.
