Technical description

  • The bevelling machine consists of an extremely sturdy base on which large shoulders are fixed. The rear beam has been designed to avoid any type of flexion which may cause problems to the bevel linearity. The front and rear beams as well as the tilting frame (supporting the spindles) rotation axis are fixed to the above mentioned shoulders.
  • The glass in process is supported by sturdy metallic pads which are vulcanised with rubber to guarantee a strong and precise tracking system necessary to ensure a correct bevel and reliable sheet hold.
  • The lubrication system of track and chains is automatic and the machine program warns the operator every time the tank is empty or one of the nozzles is clogged.
  • The track conveying capacity is 150 kg per linear meter. The processing speed 0,4 – 6 m/min.
  • The speed is adjusted through a potentiometer located on the control board; the reached value is displayed on the screen of the personal computer.
  • The glass is transported inside the working area by a belt which slides on a low-friction coefficient material with high-resistance to wear.
  • The infeed conveyor height can be adjusted (by means of an handwheel with a gravity index) in order to carry out the edging and mitering process, removing the right quantity of material according production requirements (models 913T).
  • The machine is standard-equipped with a safety device against accidental trapping of the operator’s hands during the glass introduction phase.
  • The machine configuration consists of four independent and numerically controlled movements (each one of them equipped with potentiometers and A/D electronic cards). The NC controls:
    • the front beam horizontal position to fit to different glass thickness;
    • the tilting beam (supporting the spindles) inclination according to the required bevel angle;
    • the tilting beam (supporting the spindles) horizontal position according to the required flat edge;
    • the elastic elements (front pads) vertical position to support the small sheets in process according to the glass dimensions.
  • All these movements are automatically controlled by the machine according to the bevel geometric features and the working parameters set on the PC.
  • Adjustment of diamond and resinoid spindles is done by means of graduated gauges which allow to move the wheels with high precision. Felt (and arris) spindles are equipped with a wear recovery pneumatic system (fully automatic) and they are controlled by means of pressure gauges and manometers on the control panel.
  • Every wheel is cooled by two water jets in order to keep the correct operating temperature and the best washing of the removed glass powder.
  • The machine cycle is controlled by means of the user interface on personal computer with a graphic colour monitor (LCD). The software, designed by Bottero personnel, in Windows XP Embedded environment. The data entering keyboard is a diaphragm one (special for industrial environments) in order to avoid damages caused by dust or water (frequently present on operator hands).
